Boseong Getbol area is a semi-enclosed type of Getbol lying at the inner part of the Yeojaman Bay. Suspended sediments supplied from the Geumgang River ultimately reach and sink this area. Tidal currents running counterclockwise deposit sediment around the islands surrounding Jangdo Island, resulting in the formation of this broad tidal flat.
Boseong Getbol support 188 species of benthic diatoms, 23 species of macroalgaes and 445 species of macrobenthos, especially those that support threatened species such as Red mittens sesarma crab, Convexed crab, and Neritid freshwater snail. Boseong Getbol also support 99 species of waterbirds and 40,000 individuals, and 22 species of migratory birds on the IUCN red list, including Hooded cranes, Saunder’s gull, and Eurasian oystercatchers.
