Suncheon Getbol area, which shows the scenic beauty of well-conserved reed community and tidal channels in its brackish water zone, is a semi-enclosed type of Getbol that covers the inner parts of Yeojaman Bay and Suncheonman Bay. What distinguishes Suncheon Getbol area from others are its tidal flatformed by tidal currents running counterclockwise across the broad Yeojaman Bay, and its expansive salt marshes created as a result of freshwater flowing from Dongcheon Stream.
Boseong Getbol support 188 species of benthic diatoms, 23 species of macroalgaes and 445 species of macrobenthos. Suncheon Getbol, which has a rounded reed community and wide suaeda japonica community, supports 99 species of waterbirds and 40,000 individuals, and supports 22 species of IUCN Red list migratory birds such as Hodded cranes, Black-faced spoonbills and Swan gooses.
